Q&A: If you had to give up one of your five senses, which one would it be?

When I saw this question, initially I thought, why would I want to give up one of my five senses? no way! but as I slowly thought about it, if it was absolutely, crazily, completely,  wholly, utterly necessary? I would pick my sense of smell.

No I did not work in a junk yard, neither did I hang around a sewer system

When I think about the number of things I've smelled in my little time on this earth, by mistake or intentionally out of dumb curiosity? I wouldn't think twice about it.

This takes me back to a time that I needed to relieve myself badly and the only option I had was a public toilet. Not those ones you see out on the streets but those you find in some office buildings *ahem*...

So here I am running to the toilet out of desperation because I felt I was about to burst open and since relieving myself on the corridor or in the office was out of the question, I made for the toilet....

hmmm....let me just say...in what seemed like a flash, I turned, went back to my office, snatched my bag and ran out of the building.

I don't remember clearly how exactly I made it to the exit but I did.

At that time, I decided it would better to be arrested for indecent exposure while having a go out in the street than to stay another second in that toilet.

Never ever , I repeat, EVER, in my wildest dreams did it remotely, minutely, infinitesimally occur to me that it was possible to make a hand print from s***!

oh yes! , it was right there on the wall like some weird hallucination beckoning to my disgust and dumb curiosity once again, to have a sniff at it to be sure it was what it looked like.

So there, coupled with the number of smells I've had to endure in my days due to one reason or the other like motherhood, market girl tinz and NYSC camp, to name a few, I think I wouldn't miss it for some time. hehe

But wait, with the sense of smell being linked to taste, how do you bask in the aroma that always tends to have an effect on the flavour or taste of food when you eat it?

I have no idea. But does it really matter? maybe, maybe not, I eat too much anyway.
